  i'm suffering from a vicious cycle.

  put the research down - declare i'm not doing it anymore because it sickens me, ponder, make another aha connection, get sickened by it, put the research down, declare i'm not doing it anymore because it sickens me.. ponder.

  i'm glad it's not just me.. i think my jw friend has been embarrassed one time too many with wt historical facts and so now he has asked me to help him understand my concerns and present him with some research that validates it.

  obviously, this is a matter of subjective judgement - but that doesn't make it any less important.

  it's something that has depressed me increasingly since 9/11 happened.. the good part is: i think we just hit a tipping point, a turnaround.. i think rand paul's filibuster crystallized a growing counter response to the loss of freedom in the us - and the western world.

  We are getting closer and closer to a Police state here in UK.

  The right to protest and march and free speech are hallmarks of our society. It's what our grandparents fought and died for.

  If peaceful protest is banned then only one option will remain. It would appear that our once great nation is being sucked into a military style dictatorship, run by and for the benefit of the ultra rich. In fact, nothing has changed since the election. One might say its got worse. If the elections are just when we pick which of the ultra rich will rule us - its time to change the system.

  Dissent is becoming a criminal activity. When free speech is outlawed, only outlaws will have free speech.

  As the press went into overdrive about the vote to permit gay marriage, a House of Commons committee quietly axed amendments to the Justice and Security Bill that would have made it less damaging to your freedom.

  This is the controversial Bill to allow ‘secret courts’ in the UK, so cases that are potentially embarrassing to government can be held behind closed doors.

  As it now stands, defendants – or claimants in civil cases – will be excluded from the hearings where their fates will be decided. They will not be allowed to know or challenge the details of the case against them and will have to be represented by a security-cleared special advocate, rather than their own lawyer.

  There are many demonstrations being planned here on March 30th to protest the welfare cuts. On Friday Cameron stated the disabled are exempt from the reforms but charities have shown 2/3rd of those affected will be the disabled. He doesn't even know or understand his own policies. The same day these cuts are enforced the ruling elite and millionaires get a tax break worth over £100,000 each!

  Does the WT have any legal grounds to go after "apostates" for defamation, slander, libel?

  question to all those well versed in legal issues.

  all jw's, when confronted with criticism, claim that apostates lie about the wt.

  i always have wondered, given the litigious environment in which we live in western democracies, why the wts doesn't go after all those websites that publish so many "lies" about "the truth".. can this lack of action on the part of the wts be used as evidence of the truthfulness of the message in "apostate" sites such as jwfacts,.

  And because we speak the truth they use fear to keep the R&F away from us by using terms like "gangrenous" and "mentally diseased" to describe us!

  What else can they do? Their impotent attempts to silence us by closing youtube accounts is futile and makes us even more determined.

  God’s Name and Bible Translators

  Raymundus Martini used the spelling Yohoua. Soon after, in 1303, Porchetus de Salvaticis completed a work entitled Victoria Porcheti adversus impios Hebraeos (Porchetus’ Victory Against the Ungodly Hebrews). In this he, too, mentioned God’s name, spelling it variously Iohouah, Iohoua and Ihouah. Then, in 1518, Petrus Galatinus published a work entitled De arcanis catholicae veritatis (Concerning Secrets of the Universal Truth) in which he spells God’s name Iehoua.

  The name first appeared in an English Bible in 1530, when William Tyndale published a translation of the first five books of the Bible. In this he included the name of God, usually spelled Iehouah, in several verses, and in a note in this edition he wrote: “Iehovah is God’s name . . . Moreover as oft as thou seist LORD in great letters (except there be any error in the printing) it is in Hebrew Iehovah.” From this the practice arose of using Jehovah’s name in just a few verses and writing “LORD” or “GOD” in most other places where the Tetragrammaton occurs in the Hebrew text.

  What I haven't discovered yet is the reason why the name Jehovah was inserted where it wasn't before in the New Testament

  How do I tell my husband?

  i'm a born in, baptized as a young teenager, whole family is jw.

  i just recently woke up after the new understanding of the fds was announced and it seemed to me to smack of power-grabbing.

  i started looking at all the websites we're not supposed to, and now i know why.

  what other books did we grow up with that are out of print?.

  truth booklive forever book(old) united in worship(old) evolution/creation bookthose seem to be the biggies.
